Paul Tyers, FCPA, FCA, CFP, CIM
Paul Tyers is the Managing Director of Wealth Stewards Inc., founded in 2006 to serve high-net-worth clients. With designations including FCPA, FCA, CFP, CIM, and a business degree, he provides comprehensive wealth advisory services. Paul and his team work at a fiduciary standard, ensuring clients’ wealth is optimally managed. Internationally recognized, Paul is a published author and has led his team to win the 2017 & 2018 Global Financial Planning Awards.
Akua Carmichael, LL.B. J.D., TEP
Akua Carmichael is Vice President, Estate Planning & Services. She provides customized estate planning and administration solutions. Akua is a lawyer and has extensive experience in estate law, having previously provided estate planning, administration, and litigation services. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Akua also has experience in the wealth management and insurance industries. She is a frequent speaker, writer, and educator on estate and trust issues.
Peggy Tyers, BBA, CEA
Peggy Tyers is the Director of Business Development at Wealth Stewards Inc., where she guides accountants in enhancing client relationships through wealth management. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and became a Certified Executor Advisor in 2019. Previously, as President of 2020 Canada, she worked with CPAs across Canada, the US, and Australia to improve efficiency and profitability. Peggy has served on various boards, spoken internationally on practice management, and leads a group of female business leaders in leadership.
Ruby Lougheed Yawney, CPA, CA, CKA, Hons. BBA
Ruby is a multi-accredited financial professional (CPA, CA, CKA) with extensive experience in public accounting, business operations, financial planning, and investment banking. She provides businesses and owners with excellent financial advice during critical stages of the business cycle. Ruby is known for her integrity, results, independent thinking, and mutual respect, helping owners make sound decisions in complex situations.
Haley Thomas, CFP, CIM
Haley Thomas is a wealth adviser at Wealth Stewards, offering comprehensive wealth management services to professionals and business owners. She holds an Honours degree in Communications from Wilfrid Laurier University and earned the Chartered Investment Manager designation in 2016, becoming an associate portfolio manager in 2017 and a Certified Financial Planner in 2019. Haley specializes in creating customized financial plans, focusing on helping clients achieve their unique goals. Her expertise and dedication to long-term client relationships ensure they are on the path to financial success.
Thomas Kennedy
Tom Kennedy is the founder of Kensington Capital Partners and Chair of the Investment Committee. He serves on the Advisory Boards of several private equity funds and private companies and has been an active supporter of the Private Equity and Venture Capital business in Canada. His public service and philanthropic work has been a longstanding, and focused on education and healthcare. Tom’s previous experience includes 10 years in operational and management positions with Consolidation Coal Co. and Alberta Energy Company. He has investment banking experience as a senior executive with Bunting Warburg, Lancaster and TD Securities.

Our attendees are established CPAs in public practice based in the greater Toronto area. As well as CPAs who have retired or are nearing-retirement looking for ways to stay connected with clients on their own terms while earning recurring revenue.
